With the popularity taking its peak, the Mardi Himal trek can be a great alternative if you are looking for a less commercialized trek without compromising the same experience. Mardi Himal trek is comparatively new in regards to other treks in the Annapurna Trekking Region. What captivated the trekker’s attention is perhaps the astonishing trail amidst the greenery at the beginning of the trek. The trail then leads to the mountains as we get closer and closer to Macchapuchre, Mardi Himal and Annapurna South. Depending on the season, the trek can be covered in tall grass (spring) or thick snow (fall).
AME treks offer a 12 days package to the newly opened and celebrated trekking route of Mardi is famous for its diversified scenario including trails thorough the greenery as well as the snow capped Himalayas. In this 12 days trip, we will first explore the city of the temples: Kathmandu. Later we will take a bus to Pokhara (popularly known as the Trekker’s Hub as many depart from here to various trekking routes) from where we will officially start the trek.
The itinerary can be fully customized according to your wish. If you have a bigger group of family or friends, we also offer you a special discount (contact your correspondent for further information). Let us know if you have a special request or want to have your private room, personal vehicle during the ride to Pokhara or travel by air and we will work to make it happen.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu and trek preparation.
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara. (850m/7 hours by bus)
Day 04: Drive to Kande (1706m), (1h) and trek to Pitam Deurail (2142m),(5km), (4h)
Day 05: Trek to Forest Camp (2600m),(7.5km), (4h)
Day 06: Trek to Badal Danda (3250m),(4.5km),(5-6h)
Day 07: Trek to High Camp (3550m), (3.5km), (2-3h)
Day 08: Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m), (4.5km),(2-3h) and back to High Camp (3550m),(4.5km), (2-3h)
Day 09: Trek to Siding (5-6h),(8.5km) and drive to Pokhara (2-3h)
Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu by Tourist bus (7 hours)
Day 11: Departure Day
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu Our team representative will be waiting for you at the airport to escort you to your hotel in Thamel. Welcome to Nepal! After checking in and freshening up, we will head to the main office of the our office to meet your correspondent and discuss on the topic further. You will also meet your trek guide and you can ask questions or even brainstorm on the itinerary and your special requirement (if any). Later in the evening, we will host dinner for you in a traditional local Nepal Restaurant with cultural show. Meals included: Dinner Highlights: Arrival in Kathmandu, introduction to Nepali culture via authentic Nepali food and cultural show.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and trek preparation (1,300m) The capital city of Kathmandu is famously known as the home to various world heritage sites. The temples, palaces and stupa reside in the capital city of Nepal making it a beautiful city to explore. Therefore, we will explore various communities today as we take you on a few hour tours to the major attractions of Kathmandu valley. In the evening, we will return to the hotel and pack our bags for the start of the trek tomorrow. The night will be spent at a hotel in Kathmandu. Meal included: Breakfast Highlights: World Heritage sites like Kathmandu Durbar Square (a historical structure offering architectural wonders), the Pashupatinath temple (a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva- lord possessing the power of destruction), Swyambhunath and Boudhanath (a Buddhist shrine dedicated to Lord Buddha- Light of Asia.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (820m) We will be heading to Pokhara today. Waking up early to catch the tourist bus to Pokhara, We reach the bus park near Thamel (Kantipath) at 7:00 am. The bus takes about 6-7 hours to reach Pokhara over the Prithvi Highway. We pass the Trishuli River. The highway takes us along various rural settlements, hills and flat terrains. After 6-7 hours of bus ride we will finally reach Pokhara. We check-in to our hotel and enjoy the rest of the day exploring the Lakeside area. Meals: Breakfast Highlights: Prithvi Highway along the Trisuli River with view of local settlements and beautiful landscapes, arrival in Pokhara, walk along the Lakeside and experience the “Pokhara lifestyle”.
Day 04: Pokhara to Pothana. (1970m/5 hours.) We will official start walking today. Early morning from Pokhara, we will catch a bus to Phedi. The trek can also be started from Nayapul. After the 40 minutes bus ride to Phedi, we will start walking towards our destination of the day. Pothana is about 5 hours walk from here. Walking through the dense jungle with glimpses of terrains and hills will takes us to the beautiful village of Dhampus. From Dhampus, a steep climb will first take us to the Australian Camp, passing Deurali. We further walk up to Pothana situated on the Annapurna Circuit trail. The evening can be spent exploring Pothana. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Highlights: first closer view of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre range, Gurung settlements and their local cuisine, lifestyle and traditional houses
Day 05: Pothana to Forest Camp. (2550m/ 7 hours.) Our destination for the day is Forest Camp. From Pothana, the stone paved trail leads us upward till Deurali. On reaching Deurali, we leave the circuit trail and catch an off-the-beaten trail that heads east. The trail passes through the dense forest. We can witness various flora and fauna along with some sightings of wild animals. Occasionally, the trail presents us with the glimpses of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massif. We finally reach the Forest Camp. There are 3-4 lodges’ upto dates in Forest camp and the environment is beautiful. The night will be spent in a tented camp at the Forest Camp. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Highlights: View of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges, glimpses of leopard, deer, monkeys and various species of birds, dense forest and the experience of staying in local teahouses.
Day 06: Forest Camp to High Camp. (4100m/ 6 hours.) Leaving forest camp, we start walking towards the High Camp. Today we will climb up to a height of 4100m and walk across beautiful ridges. From Forest camp, the path leads us towards lesser forest trails and more uphill with breathtaking landscape. High Camp is situated on top of the last hill before we incline higher up to the Base Camp of the Mardi Himal. This is the last stop before we walk towards the summit. From Forest Camp we start walking towards the steep trails. There is almost no settlement in this region except some people who herd their animals. We first reach low camp, and then we pass the Nangge Danda to reach the high camp. If the day is not cloudy, we see the glimpses of Machhapuchhre, the Annapurna Range, the valley of Annapurna Base Camp and Mardi Himal. The night will be spent at High Camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Highlights: Dense forest, splendid landscape and view of Machhapuchhre, the Annapurna Range, feeling of being above the cloud from High Camp.
Day 07: day trip to Base Camp (6 hours) Mardi Himal Base Camp is the destination set for the day. Waking up early in the morning, we see the sun rise amidst the clouds. Today we walk on a narrow, rocky trail on the edge of the hilltops to reach base camp. Leaving the High Camp, we ascend for about 4 hours crossing one hill to another. The view is simply gorgeous as we get to witness all the mountains up close. After enjoying the views from the base camp, we walk back to the High Camp. We will drop down to High Camp from Base Camp and stay the night in high Camp before descending to Siding tomorrow. The night will be spent in a tented camp at the High Camp. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Highlights: The spectacular sunrise view from the High Camp, view of the great fields and the blue glaciers of the Sanctuary wall, yak herds, the stunning Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Ganesh Himal.
Day 08: High Camp to Siding Village. (1280m/ 7 hours.) From High Camp we will walk amidst the forest, waterfalls and some hills before reaching Siding. From the High Camp crossing the Nangge Danda, a steep descent brings us back to the Low Camp. From the Low Camp, we leave the trail used earlier and head towards the Mardi Khola River through the dense forest. The walk continues till Sidhing. Overnight at Sidhing. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Highlights: Trace the way back through dense forest, friendly little local settlements, lovely fields and the experience of pristine scenario.
Day 09: Siding Village to Pokhara. (850m/2.5 hours trek and 1 hour drive.) After breakfast, we will hike down following the river until Lumre from where we catch the vehicle for Pokhara. A private vehicle can also be hired from here. The drive will be for an hour and across come beautiful flat terrains with vegetations, little bridges and waterfalls. Upon reaching Pokhara we check-in to our Hotel. Overnight at Pokhara. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Highlights: mountains and hills surrounding the valleys, waterfalls and vegetations along the way to Pokhara from Siding, Tamang and Gurung settlements, reaching Pokhara
Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu by Tourist Bus (7 hours)ghtseeing and relaxing Pokhara. The journey from Pokhara to Kathmandu can be taken on a plane or bus according to your preference. The flight will take about 25-30 minutes and overlooks the beautiful mountains amidst the clouds. The bus ride will be on a tourist bus which will take about 7-8 hours to reach Pokhara along the highway. Upon reaching Kathmandu, we will check-in to our hotel and in the evening we will join a farewell dinner where we can give feedback and enjoy the local cuisine one last time. Overnight in Kathmandu. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner Highlights: 25-30 minutes scenic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu or 7-8 hours long Bus Ride along the highway, a comfortable tourist standard hotel and a farewell dinner in Kathmandu.
Day 11: Departure day On the departure day, if the flight is late at night we can do some souvenir shopping. We will drop you off at the airport. Namaste and hope you have a safe flight.
