The recent earthquake in Nepal seriously affected the tourism sector . People probably think that it is not a right time to visit Nepal. But that is not true. They can still come to Nepal and take part in Nepal' rebuilding. We have designed this trip for those who are interested in volunteering in earthquake affected areas of Nepal and at the same time explore Nepal. We have included sightseeing and short trekking along with the volunteering to make their stay more fruitful.
Coming to Nepal and returning back without exploring this lovely Himalayan country wouldn't be a fun. Therefore we have included the sightseeing of Kathmandu Valley and Pokhara and Trek to Sarangkot as a part of the trip. This way a visitor will not only help in rebuilding Nepal but also in the country's overall economy as Tourism is one of the major income generating sectors of Nepal's economy.
The Gorkha Volunteering trip takes you to the place named Mailung in Gorkha. As Gorkha was the epicenter of the main earthquake that hit Nepal on 25th April, it's hard to find any construction standing there. Everything turned to rubble. This rubble needs to be cleared and new houses needs to be constructed. By doing this trip, a volunteer will hence help in taking care of the materials, help in designing building and removing the rubble. They will also visit the hospital for volunteering and school for teaching english language.

Day 1: Arrival day
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, we will meet and greet you then assist you to the hotel. Later that day we will meet you again at our head office and introduce you to your Guide. If your flight arrives in time, we will take you to one of the most popular local restaurant with delicious Nepalese food, cultural music and ethnic dance. This will give you a glimpse into the different ethnic groups of the country and If you arrive late we can arrange it the next day.
Day 2: Program briefing and preparation:
After having breakfast at the hotel, we will meet you at our office. If you wish to have a kathmandu Tour then we will arrange that for you and if not, then we will discuss about further program and start preparing for the trip.
Day 3: Drive to Gorkha Mailung
After having breakfast in the hotel, you will take a drive to Gorkha Mailung through Prithvi highway. The drive is around 6 hours if you hired a private vehicle and 7-8 hours if it is done through a public transport. The way to Gorkha is very scenic. After reaching Mailung, we will set - up our tent. Dinner will be prepared by the local host. It will be a traditional Nepali food. You will spend that night in the tent.
Day 4 to Day 8: Volunteering
You will have almost the same time table for next 4 days . You will have a breakfast prepared by the guide. You will be meeting local people. Interacting with them. Talking about the earthquake, how was their life before and how has their life been affected. If needed you will counsel them. show them your concern. You will be exploring the damaged village and exchanging the culture. You will be helping them rebuild their houses, remove the rubble. If you think you can't perform a heavy task, then you can just help them by looking after their materials. You will be visiting the local school and if you pose a good english then you can even teach the students. You will visit the local hospital and volunteer there. You will have a traditional Nepali food in dinner prepared by the local host. You will spend the nights in the same tent.
Day 9: Drive to Pokhara
On day 9, your volunteering will end but you will still be contributing to the Nepal's economy as a tourist. After having breakfast, you will have around 5 hours drive to the lake city Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara you will check into the hotel and rest for some time. In the evening you will stroll around the beautiful lakeside.
Day 10: Trek to Dhampus
You will have an early morning drive of one hour to reach Phedi from Pokhara. Phedi is one of the gateways to Annapurna region. You will enjoy the beautiful view of Annapurna & Manaslu range on the way. From Phedi you will have a 5 hour trek to Dhampus. You will stay that night in a lodge.
Day 11: Trek to Sarangkot
You will wake up early in the morning for the stunning sunrise and amazing Himalayan view. You will be descending down until you cross the Dhampus River. Then ascend gradually through the Paddy fields and forest to reach the Naudanda Village. you will have your lunch in the Naudanda Village. After 3 hours walk through the Chettri and Brahmins Villages, you will reach Sarangkot. Sarangkot offers beautiful Himalayan view consisting the mighty peaks of Annapurna, Himalchhuli, Machhapuchhare, and Lamjung Himal. You will spend that night in a hotel in Sarangkot.
Day 12: Trek to Pokhara and drive to Kathmandu
You will wake up early in the morning to view the Sunrise. After having breakfast in the hotel, you will start descending towards Pokhara. After reaching Pokhara, you will drive back to Kathmandu. It is around 6-7 hours drive. You will stay that night in the hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 13: Departure day:
This day is the last day of your trip. We will once again meet you in our office to handover the certificate of appreciation for your volunteering work. If you would like to extend your stay we will assist you otherwise we will help you transfer to the Tribhuvan International Airport as per your flight departure time.
