Many thanks to Tika (AME rep), Bikal (guide) and Kiran (porter) who made this adventure such a success. From the very onset of my research, the AME website is useful but not excessively inclusive. Tika who is one of the managers of AME, is very responsive to any questions and in fact, answered all queries in a timely efficient and professional manner, even when the question was asked the day prior to my departure to Nepal. Bikal was my guide who provided a safe comforting environment to experience this adventure. He had excellent knowledge having been guiding travellers for over 10 yrs up various mountains. Kiran was extremely polite and pleasant and a pleasure to have accompany me on the journey. During the trek up to Everest Base Camp, Bikal and I modified the plan since this was a personalized trek and accelerated the pace (Kiran was agreeable to this) so that I could also experience the elephant safari in Chitawan National park (as this could not be experienced in this fashion in Canada, or North America) - the best part was the elephant bathing portion (a must do). Tika showed a real interest in making my trip to Nepal successful with his personalized attention, constant communication and attention to detail. The Blue Horizon Hotel where I stayed in Kathmandu was also an excellent choice being convenient, quiet, hospitable (although I learned that the electricity does go off at certain hours in most of Nepal). I had researched many different companies online prior to booking with AME, a necessary due diligence that we should all do, however now that I have had a chance to trek with AME and spoken to others who have also signed up with their company, I can not only recommend AME but would travel again with AME in the future. Best of luck, AME, to a company well run.
