Day 03: Kathmandu City tour and Trek preparation day (1,300m/4,264ft)

Today, we have a fantastic tour planned in this town. The journey passes through several historical and cultural landmarks that have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. These cultural sites all have distinctive shrines and monuments from the Middle Ages or perhaps earlier. We'll spend as much time as we can exploring these historical places before dark.

Our day's excursion will begin shortly after we unveil our experienced guide. Our tour today will focus primarily on visiting Swoyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Note: Patan Durbar Square is an alternative to Kathmandu Durbar Square.

Day 04: Patan and Bhaktapur Tour

Delve deeper into the cultural treasures of the Kathmandu Valley with a visit to the historical cities of Patan and Bhaktapur. Explore the intricately designed temples, Durbar Squares, and unique architectural wonders that showcase the artistic brilliance of ancient Nepali civilization. This enriching tour offers a glimpse into the cultural diversity and historical significance of these captivating cities. Return to your hotel in Kathmandu for an evening of relaxation.

Day 5: Kathmandu to Kerung Border (1300m to 2700m)

Embark on an early morning scenic drive from Kathmandu to the Kerung Border, traversing through the picturesque Nepalese countryside. Following the completion of necessary border formalities at Nepalese immigration, undertake a thrilling uphill journey either by bus or van or, if preferred, a two-hour walk uphill to reach Chinese immigration. Check into the Hotel for an overnight stay, where the elevation rises to 2700m.

Day 6: Kerung to Shigatse (4300m)

Experience a day of driving uphill, reaching the highest plateau in the world, offering a surreal view of the Tibetan landscape. Marvel at the vastness of the Tibetan plateau and catch glimpses of the stunning Himalayan ranges, including Mt Cho Oyu and Mt Xishapagma. Traverse the Gyatchu La pass (5,220m) en route to Shigatse, where the overnight stay awaits at Manasarover Hotel or similar. The elevation at Shigatse is 3900m.

Day 7: Shigatse to Lhasa (3650m)

Begin the day with a visit to the Panchen Lama's Tashilhumpu Monastery and explore the local market. Later, drive to Lhasa and settle in at Hotel Yak or similar for an overnight stay, situated at an elevation of 3650m.

Embark on a comprehensive sightseeing tour of Lhasa, visiting the iconic Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Market. Immerse yourself in Tibetan culture and history, spending the night at the charming Yak Hotel or similar.

Day 9: Sightseeing Tour in Lhasa

Dedicate a full day to explore Lhasa further, with visits to Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. Take advantage of some extra time to wander through Barkhor Market, collecting small souvenirs from Tibet. Enjoy your last night in Lhasa with an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10: Lhasa to Gyantse Via Yamdrok Lake (3650m to 3950m)

After breakfast, prepare for a captivating full-day drive, passing through Karola and Kambala passes, and soaking in the scenic beauty around Yamdrok Lake. Reach Gyantse and explore the Kumbum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery before settling in for the night at Chenjan Hotel or similar.
