Tourist arrivals via air went up by 6.34 per cent to 47,397 in August mainly due to greater inflow of foreigners from various Asian countries.
With this, the total number of foreigners visiting Nepal so far in 2013 reached 368,386, down 2.3 per cent than in the same period last year, shows figures released by the Immigration Office at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA).
Tourist arrivals from South Asia registered positive growth of 10 per cent during the month, while flow of visitors from China, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore went up by up to 74 per cent.
However, arrivals from European countries fell by 17.37 per cent during the month, while arrivals from the US and Australia went up by 16.05 per cent and 39.23 per cent, respectively.
A total of 59,335 foreign tourists departed from TIA in August.
