Nepali community in Australia has presented a gift of Buddha statue along with a letter wishing world peace to the Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard.

Australia Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement Global Coordinator Ram Kumar Shrestha and Australia’s Sub-Continent Ministerial Consultative Committee Member Mahendra Lamsal jointly presented the gift to the PM at her office in Canberra on 19th June.
Gillard thanked for the gift and expressed her happiness to “have an opportunity to decorate her office with statue of Buddha as a peace symbol”. Immediately after the programme, she garnished her office showcase by the Buddha statue.
Assistant Treasurer and Minister Assisting for Deregulation, David Bradbury, Federal MP for Greenway Michelle Rowland, Vice President at women in film and television NSW Aisha AK (Pakistan), Sub-Continent community leader Harish Velji (India) and Technical Director E Power Australia Pty Ltd. Amrinder Bajwa (India) were present on the occasion.
Australia Lumbini-Kapilvastu Day Movement has been promoting Lumbini as Buddha’s birthplace.
