New York Times ranks Nepal 45th among world’s 52 must visit places

An esteemed newspaper of the US, The New York Times , has ranked Nepal 45th place among 52 ‘ must visit places’ of the world for 2014.

In its Travel page, the newspaper, under the title ‘New peaks open up for alpine adventures’, has mentioned that Nepal is the home to eight of the world’s 10 highest summits including the Everest.”So, when Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation subcommittee recommended last September that Nepal allow access to 165 new peaks in the Kanchenjunga massif this year- 13 of them above 23,000 feet- the world’s mountaineering community was aflutter,” wrote the newspaper.

Similarly, it stated that if the approval process progresses as expected, the territory will open for the spring season.

The 52nd place to visit this year, according to the newspaper, is Cape Town of South Africa and the Naigara Falls of the New York, US.
